Turkey’s stainless flat steel imports down nine percent in Nov

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2011 Turkey's stainless flat steel imports fell slightly by one percent compared to the previous month and were down nine percent compared to November 2010, decreasing to 27,271 metric tons. The value of these imports amounted to $82.35 million, increasing by 3.3 percent as compared to October 2011 and down 11 percent year on year.
 
In November 2011, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan amounted to 5,050 metric tons, decreasing by 23.2 percent month on month and accounting for approximately 18.5 percent of Turkey's total stainless flat steel imports. Turkey's second biggest source of stainless flat steel imports in November 2011 was China with 4,800 metric tons, increasing by 45.6 percent compared to October 2011.

In the first 11 months of this year, Turkey's stainless flat steel imports amounted to 321,945 metric tons, increasing 7.6 percent compared to the same period of 2010. In the given period, stainless flat steel imports from Taiwan came to 73,200 metric tons, while the import volume from South Korea totaled 45,550 mt, increasing respectively by 7.1 and 15.1 percent year on year.
