According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in August this year Turkey's seamless pipe imports fell 17.8 percent compared to the previous month and were up 12.7 percent compared to August 2011, amounting to 20,501 metric tons. The value of these imports totaled $29.65 million, decreasing 13.2 percent compared to July and down 11.9 percent year on year.
In the first eight months of the year, Turkey's seamless pipe imports amounted to 165,730 metric tons, increasing 4.4 percent compared to the same period of 2011. The value of these imports came to $243 million, decreasing by 7.9 percent year on year.
Imports from China in the period in question amounted to 83,127 metric tons, almost double year on year, while Russia followed China, exporting 18,989 mt of seamless pipe to Turkey in the January-August period of this year, decreasing by 43.6 percent compared to the same period of 2011.
