Turkey’s scrap imports down 15.2 percent in January-August

In the January-August period of the current year, Turkey's scrap import volume decreased by 15.2 percent to 11.03 million metric tons, while these imports were valued at $3.16 billion, down 35.8 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the Turkish Iron and Steel Producers' Association (TCUD).
 
In the given period, Turkey's scrap imports from EU countries decreased by 22.8 percent to 5.43 million mt, its scrap imports from the US declined by 7.8 percent to 2.41 million mt, while scrap imports from the CIS countries amounted to 2.61 million mt, up 1.9 percent, all on year-on-year basis.
