Turkey's PPGI imports up 18.11 percent in January-May

In the first five  months of the current year, Turkey's pre-painted galvanized iron (PPGI) imports amounted to 26,450 mt, increasing by 18.11 percent, while the revenue of these imports rose to $28.85 million, up 5.14 percent, both year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). Turkey's PPGI imports in 2013 had totaled 79,312 metric tons.

In May this year, Turkey's PPGI imports decreased by 17.15 percent year on year to 5,197 metric tons but were up 178.96 percent month on month. The value of these imports amounted to $6.40 million, down 16.25 percent year on year and increasing by 145.67 percent month on month.
 
In the first five months of 2014, China ranked first among Turkey's PPGI import sources, supplying 15,854 metric tons, up 42.41 percent year on year. China was followed by Italy and Belgium, with PPGI exports to Turkey amounting to 3,379 metric tons and 2,538 metric tons, down 39.16 percent and up 42.03 percent, respectively. Meanwhile, in May, Turkey's PPGI imports from China increased by 6.6 percent year on year to 3,279 metric tons.
