Turkey’s pig iron imports from Ukraine double in Jan-Sept

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in September this year Turkey's pig iron imports rose 27.5 percent compared to the previous month and were up 57.3 percent compared to September 2011, totaling 113,980 metric tons.
 
In the first nine months of 2012, Turkey's pig iron imports totaled 1.05 million metric tons, increasing 34.4 percent compared to January-September 2011.

Imports from Ukraine in the period in question amounted to 674,710 metric tons, double compared to the same period of the previous year, while imports from Russia in the first nine months of the current year amounted to 322,152 mt, down 5.6 percent, compared to the same period of 2011.
