In December last year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 86,047 mt, down 2.8 percent compared to November and up 55.5 percent year on year, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 1.2 percent month on month and was up 96.5 percent year on year to $31.83 million.
In 2017, Turkey's pig iron imports decreased by eight percent to 1.01 million mt, while the revenue from these imports amounted to $361.05 million, up 31.8 percent, both year on year.
In 2017, Turkey imported 677,839 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, up 73.36 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 186,138 mt, down 71.74 percent year on year.
