In October this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 99,072 mt, down 26.5 percent year on year and increasing by 17.6 percent compared to September, according to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK). The total value of Turkey's pig iron imports in the given month decreased by 36.7 percent year on year to $33.59 million, up by 6.4 percent compared to the previous month.
Meanwhile, in the first 10 months of this year, Turkey's pig iron imports amounted to 993,298 metric tons, down 12.5 percent year on year, while the revenue generated by these imports totaled $361.17 million, decreasing by 18.5 percent compared to the same period of 2018.
In the first 10 months of this year, Turkey imported 629,246 metric tons of pig iron from Russia, down 5.74 percent year on year. Russia ranked first among Turkey's pig iron import sources in the period in question, followed by Ukraine which supplied 152,621 mt, down 45.55 percent year on year.
