Koc Metalurji, a steelmaker based in Turkey’s Iskenderun region, has decided to extend the halt at its steel mill in Osmaniye for another month. The producer will not produce crude steel in June and the situation will be evaluated after this period.

The steelmaker had temporarily halted its crude steel production on April 7. At that time, SteelOrbis was informed that the shutdown would last one month, but that the period could be extended to three months depending on the market situation and developments regarding the spread of the Covid-19 virus.

Koc Metalurji has a liquid steel capacity of 1.2 million mt at its steel mill based in Osmaniye and 550,000 mt of rebar production capacity at its İskenderun-based re-rolling plant.
