Since Friday, March 18, Turkey’s ship scrap prices have remained in the range of $495-640/mt, though one producer has increased its price by $10/mt to accelerate scrap flow to its yards. Market players stated that the ship scrap flow to Izmir-based producers’ yards is not that strong, “it can even be said that it is weak,” a SteelOrbis source commented. A price increase will be possible for ship scrap market when the flow is considered to reach insufficient levels. SteelOrbis believes that the current sideways movement in Turkey’s ship scrap market is linked to the relatively quiet import scrap segment.
