On May 30, Turkish steelmaker Izmir Demir Celik Sanayi A.S. (IDC) said in a statement that it has decided to prolong the suspension of production at its meltshop and rolling mill for one more week.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, IDC had said that it would suspend production at its rolling mill for three weeks beginning from May 9 and for two weeks at its meltshop starting from May 16.

IDC has a meltshop with an annual production capacity of 1.32 million metric tons, equipped with a seven-strand continuous caster, capable of producing 140 x 140 mm x 12 m steel billets, while its rolling mill can produce 900,000 mt of rebar per year.
