Turkey’s crude steel output increases by 5.1 percent in Jan-Apr

According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkish crude steel output in April this year decreased by 12.3 percent month on month and was down by 3.1 percent year on year to 3 million mt.

In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces fell by 3.5 percent, while production by integrated plants decreased by two percent, both year on year.

In the first four months of this year, Turkish crude steel output rose by 5.1 percent to 12.5 million mt, year on year. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by seven percent to 8.6 million mt while production by integrated plants increased by one percent to 3.9 million mt, both year on year.

In the January-April period of this year, Turkey's billet output increased by 4.3 percent to 8.5 million metric tons, while its slab output rose by 6.7 percent to 4.0 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
