Turkey’s crude steel output increases by 4.3 percent in Jan-May

According to a statement released by the Turkish Steel Producers' Association (TCUD), Turkish crude steel output in May this year increased by 12.3 percent month on month and was up by 0.5 percent year on year to 3.32 million mt.

In the given month, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 1.3 percent, while production by integrated plants decreased by 1.2 percent, both year on year.

In the first five months of this year, Turkish crude steel output rose by 4.3 percent to 15.9 million mt, year on year. In the given period, Turkey's crude steel output by electric arc furnaces rose by 6.1 percent to 11 million mt while production by integrated plants increased by 0.6 percent to 4.9 million mt, both year on year.

In the January-May period of this year, Turkey's billet output increased by three percent to 10.7 million metric tons, while its slab output rose by 7.1 percent to 5.17 million metric tons, both on year-on-year basis.
