Turkey-based galvanized steel producer Borçelik, a joint venture of Borusan Holding and ArcelorMittal, has announced that it has been awarded the prestigious certificate granted by ResponsibleSteel, an initiative that aims to encourage steelmakers to produce carbon-neutral steel, for its main production site in Gemlik, Turkey.
The company, which aims to achieve net zero by 2050, has become the first steel producer in Turkey to have a site qualify for this certificate.
Borçelik has an annual production capacity of 1.5 million mt.
