One of the world's largest producers of merchant pig iron, Russian-based Tulachermet, has announced that it has finished the overhaul of casting machine No. 6 at its blast furnace shop, which has been aimed at increasing the machine's reliability and productivity.

The overhaul, which included the replacement of the casting machine's main equipment, was originally planned to be carried out over a period of 63 days, but was finished five days ahead of schedule.

Next on Tulachermet's schedule is the 70-day overhaul of its casting machine No. 1, which is to be stopped in April.

In addition, in 2009 Tulachermet also plans to repair its casting machines No. 3 and No. 5.
