TISCO reports increase in its steel production

Indian steel producer Tata Iron and Steel (TISCO) has reported higher production figures for crude steel, hot metal and saleable steel production in the nine-month period ended on December 31, 2004. In line with the figures released by the company, saleable steel production has increased by 2% to 3.13 million tons in April-Dec 2004 period, against the figure recorded in the corresponding period of previous year. Although certain mills of the company were temporarily shut down for maintenance, production figures indicated rises. Production at cold rolling mill has increased by 15% to 1.06 million tons. TISCO's production of hot rolled, cold rolled and galvanized steel products, which are mostly supplied to auto sector, indicated an increase of 32% in the subject nine-month period, against the same period of previous year. Moreover, production of branded products such as Tata Shaktee (corrugated galvanized sheet), Tiscon (rebars) and Tata Steelium (cold rolled sheets) increased by 13%, 15% and 27% respectively.
