ThyssenKrupp AG expands elevator business with US acquisition

Germany-based ThyssenKrupp AG announced Wednesday that it has purchased elevators servicing company Philadelphia United Elevator Co., marking ThyssenKrupp's second US elevator-related acquisition in recent weeks. Three weeks ago in mid-September, ThyssenKrupp purchased Florida-based Elevator Sales & Service Inc.

The two acquisitions come after the steelmaker announced this past May that it will focus more on non-steel related operations. ThyssenKrupp has made major investments in the Americas over the last few years, constructing a slab mill in Brazil and flat-rolled mill operation in Alabama.
