Latin America-focused steelmaker Ternium is reportedly interested in buying Mexican integrated steelmaker Altos Hornos de Mexico (AHMSA), according to several media reports.

A media report from La Voz de Coahuila said Ternium executives have visited AHMSA to inspect the quality of the steelmaker’s operations, as well as personnel performance.

While La Voz indicated both Ternium and AHMSA could establish a “partnership,” Mexican newspaper Vanguardia mentioned the “sale of AHMSA” to Ternium.

The rumors have already been mentioned by Mexican media, but thus far neither of the two companies has commented the matter.
