TenarisTamsa’s production falls along with oil prices

TenarisTamsa’s steel pipe production fell 15 percent in January as a result of oil prices dropping worldwide, said the union leader of the company, Pascual Lagunes Ochoa, in an interview this week, adding that he estimates the situation will improve early in the second quarter of 2015.

The situation is very difficult, he acknowledged, since the price of oil has businesses in check. "We have been postponing many orders and that affects the workforce," Ochoa said.

Finally, he did not rule out further measures if the fall in oil prices affects the production of TenarisTamsa, for example, sending plant personnel on vacation and rotated shifts with rest periods per week but without payment.
