Taiwan's basic metal output up three percent in Dec from Nov

Taiwan's industrial production index in December last year increased by 2.87 percent compared to November and was up 5.99 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in December increased by 1.25 percent compared to the previous month and rose by 3.29 percent year on year.

In December last year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector increased by three percent and output of metal product manufacturing rose by 11.21 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in December last year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector decreased by 8.69 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector output fell by 1.03 percent.

Meanwhile, in December last year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry declined by 11.39 percent, while output in the automotive industry was up by 15.71 percent, both year on year.
