Taiwan's basic metal output up 4.41 percent in December from November

Taiwan's industrial production index in December last year increased by 0.49 percent compared to November and was up 1.20 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in December increased by 0.57 percent compared to the previous month, while rising 1.32 percent year on year.

In December last year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector increased by 4.41 percent and output of metal product manufacturing declined by 0.52 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in December last year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector increased by 0.73 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector output rose by 1.30 percent. 

Meanwhile, in December last year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry rose by 2.94 percent, while output in the automotive industry was down by 5.47 percent, both year on year.
