Taiwan’s industrial output rises for fourth straight month in Oct

Taiwan's industrial production index in October this year climbed by 4.56 percent as compared to October 2011, after rising by a revised 2.88 percent year on year in September, and was down 1.2 percent month on month, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). In October, Taiwan's monthly industrial output increased for the fourth straight month on year-on-year basis.
 
In October this year, industrial output in basic metal manufacturing decreased by 6.3 percent and output of metal product manufacturing surged by 0.4 percent, both compared with October 2011. The respective month-on-month increase rates were registered at 11.5 percent and 5.2 percent.
 
Meanwhile, in October, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry fell by 8.7 percent, output in the automotive industry increased by 4.4 percent, while production in the Taiwanese construction sector increased by 20.9 percent, all compared to October 2011.
