The Australian Customs Service has decided to terminate part of an antidumping investigation into hollow structural sections (HSS) imported from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand. On June 8, 2006, Australian customs initiated an investigation into the antidumping duty order on hollow structural sections imported from China, South Korea, Malaysia, Taiwan, and Thailand, upon a petition filed by domestic producers OneSteel Trading Pty Ltd., Smorgon Steel Tube Mills Pty Ltd, and Orrcon Operations Pty Ltd. The investigation covered the period January 1, 2005, through December 31, 2005. As a result of the investigation, the Australian customs authorities decided to terminate the investigations with regard to the exporters listed below, since the exports of the goods made by the exporters in question from China, South Korea, Malaysia and Taiwan were either exported at prices that did not constitute dumping or else the dumping margins were negligible. Hengshui Jinghua Steel Pipe Co., Ltd of China; Huludao City Steel Pipe Industrial Co., Ltd of China; Qingdao Xiangxing Steel Pipe Co., Ltd of China; Shandong Fubo Group Co. of China; Tianjin Aprometal Co., Ltd of China; Zhejiang Kingland Pipeline and Technologies Co., Ltd of China; Dae Young Tube Mill Co., Ltd of Korea; Hankuk Steel Co., Ltd of Korea; Histeel Co., Ltd of Korea; Jinbang Steel Co., Ltd of Korea; Alpine Pipe Manufacturing Sdn Bhd of Malaysia; Kanzen Kagu Sdn Bhd of Malaysia; Southern Pipe Industry (M) Sdn Bhd of Malaysia; Lien-Tei Steel Enterprise Co., Ltd of Taiwan; Yieh Phui Enterprise Co., Ltd of Taiwan As previously reported by SteelOrbis, the Australian customs terminated the investigation with regard to Thai producers Saha Thai Steel Pipe Co (Saha) and Pacific Pipe Public Company Limited (Pacific Pipe) early last month, since there was sufficient evidence that there had been no dumping of HSS to Australia from Thailand by these producers. Although the investigations with regard to Malaysia, South Korea, Thailand and Taiwan have been completely terminated, the investigations with regard to Chinese exporters, except for the ones above, will continue.
