On December 8, Swedish company Sandvik Mining and Construction announced that in October and November it secured a number of orders for bulk materials handling and continuous mining/crushing systems for several iron ore mines and ports in South America, Africa and Asia.

The total value of these orders is approximately SEK 2,200 million ($318.9 million) and will be included in the order intake for the fourth quarter 2010, the company said, adding that delivery has commenced with completion scheduled to take place between late 2011 and mid-2013.

"We are now also seeing a rise in demand for major capital investments in mines and related infrastructures," says Lars Josefsson, president of Sandvik Mining and Construction business area. "We anticipate a continued high level of demand for these commodities," he added.
