SSAB to use new technology to produce fosil-free steel in cooperation with LKAB and Vattenfall

Swedish specialty steel producer SSAB  has announced that it has launched the HYBRIT Project to produce fosil-free steel in cooperation with LKAB and Vattenfall.

SSAB CEO Martin Pei stated that the pre-studies proved the technology intended to be used both feasible and probably commercially viable and they started the construction of the pilot plant this summer. The construction is currently under way.
