S&S Steel Services rumored to close soon

Local news reported Friday that Anderson, Indiana-based S&S Steel Services could shut down in the coming weeks after filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy three months ago. The company owes over $13 million to creditors, according to US Bankruptcy Court records, with assets totaling $7.5 million.

The company, which has about 120 employees, was founded in 1986 and moved into a new 333,000-square-foot building in 2010. The facility is now listed for sale, with an asking price of $3.7 million.
