SMS Group to enhance operational efficiency of ROGESA via BF revamp

German plantmaker SMS Group has announced that it will modernize the blast furnace No. 4 of ROGESA Roheisengesellschaft Saar GmbH, a subsidiary of German steel plate producer Dillinger Group.

Accordingly, the wall thickness of the blast furnace, which was built in the 1970s and has a production capacity of 6,400 mt per day, is approaching its limit, with the wear on its hearth more advanced than expected. Within the scope of the modernization works, SMS Group will use Paul Wurth hearth lining technology, providing thermal insulation required for iron ore reduction and offering corrosion resistance as well as structural support.

The modernization works, which will increase the operational efficiency of ROGESA, are scheduled for completion in the third quarter of this year.
