Siemens Group Industrial Solutions and Services (I&S) has announced the receipt of an order from Chinese company Jiangsu Dajiang Metal Material Company Ltd (Dajiang Steel) for the supply of all the automation and drive equipment for the rebuilding of a continuous tandem mill.

The new plant, which will enable Dajiang Steel to expand its production of flat steel, is scheduled to go into operation in late 2009. The plant will consist of a rebuilt, used rolling mill, and also equipment for continuous rolling. The project in question will enable Siemens to strengthen its position as a leading global supplier.

Siemens will also be responsible for supervising the assembly and installation of all components.

Dajiang Steel currently produces one million metric tons a year with its 1250 mm wide cold rolling mill.
