Austrian plantmaker Siemens VAI Metals Technologies (Siemens VAI) has announced the receipt of an order from Chinese steelmaker Tianjin Tiantie Metallurgical Group Steel Plate Ltd Co. (TTMG) for the supply of turnkey process equipment for a new continuous annealing line.

According to Siemens VAI, the value of the order is a two-digit million euro figure. The new continuous annealing line will be constructed at Tianjin and is designed to treat 735,000 mt of steel strip of widths between 700 and 1,600 mm and thicknesses from 0.25 to 2.0 mm.

Scheduled to commence operations in August 2010, the annealing line forms part of a cold rolling mill for the production of high-grade strip for the automotive industry.

Located in Hebei Province, TTMG is currently changing its manufacturing range from long to flat products, while the mill's steel production is also being expanded, through the setting up of new hot and cold rolling mills.

Back in 2006, for TTMG's new cold rolling mill in Tianjin Siemens VAI had received an order for the drives and the entire automation system of a 1.5 million mt per year pickling tandem line.
