Siemens receives order from Wuhan Iron & Steel

Siemens Industrial Solutions and Services Group (I&S) has announced the receipt of an order from Chinese steelmaker Wuhan Iron & Steel Company for the supply of a new continuous annealing line, special equipment for its coupled tandem pickling line no.3 and a hot galvanizing line for the company's Wuhan facility.

The deal, worth in the two-digit million euro range, includes Siemens'engineering, supervision of installation work, commissioning and customer training.

Accordingly, the continuous annealing line with an annual capacity of 800,000 metric tons, is scheduled to be operational by the end of 2009.

Moreover, with the new equipment for the cold rolling complex no.3 which is to be delivered by the middle of 2009, Wuhan is to start manufacturing high strength types of steel, in particular for the automotive industry.
