Taiwan's basic metal output down 12.4 percent in June from May

Taiwan's industrial production index in June this year increased by 1.5 percent compared to May and was up 3.1 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in June increased by 2.4 percent compared to the previous month, while rising by 2.3 percent year on year.

In June this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 12.4 percent and output of metal product manufacturing saw an increase of 5.6 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in June this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector fell by 5.7 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw an increase of 5.2 percent in output. 

Meanwhile, in June this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry rose by 10.8 percent, while output in the automotive industry was down by 5.2 percent, both year on year.
