Taiwan's basic metal output up 10.9 percent in March from February

Taiwan's industrial production index in March this year increased by 17.5 percent compared to February and was up 3.2 percent year on year, according to the country's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). Meanwhile, Taiwan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index in March remained almost stable compared to the previous month, while rising by 2.6 percent year on year.
 
In March this year, industrial output in the country's basic metal manufacturing sector rose by 10.9 percent and output of metal product manufacturing saw an increase of 25 percent, both compared to the previous month. In addition, on year-on-year basis, in March this year output of the basic metal manufacturing sector grew by 4.6 percent and the metal product manufacturing sector saw an increase of 3.1 percent in output. 
 
Meanwhile, in March this year, production in Taiwan's machinery and equipment industry rose by 9.5 percent, while output in the automotive industry was up by 0.4 percent, both year on year.
