The Russian steel producer Severstal is considering supplying rails from its Italian subsidiary Lucchini to projects run by Russian Railways.

At the moment, Severstal is preparing certification of Lucchini production and is looking into increasing the mill's annual rail production capacity to 500,000 metric tons from the current 300,000 metric tons.

Although Severstal and Russian Railways have expressed their intention to cooperate, no formal talks have been held yet.
