Saudi Arabia’s South Steel commissions mini mill

German plantmaker SMS Meer has announced that Saudi Arabia-based South Steel has commissioned a mini mill supplied by SMS Meer and SMS Concast.
 
South Steel produces up to 1 million mt of 130 x 130 mm and 150 x 150 mm square billets and up to 500,000 mt of rebar per year. Half of the cast billets are sold in the regional market, while the other half is further processed in the rebar mill.
