Making a gigantic investment in the Canadian state of Ontario, South Korea-based Samsung Group will buy up to 250,000 mt steel from the state's steelmakers to build wind farms in the region, the Canadian press has reported.

The state of Ontario has concluded a $7 billion renewable power generation deal with a South Korean consortium including Samsung and state-owned Korea Electric Power Corp., which is expected to create around 7,800 construction jobs throughout all operations.

Garry McKeever, the state's director of energy supply and competition, said that around 1,000 towers will be built, which will be extremely steel intensive.

The wind clusters are expected to generate 2,000 megawatts of power, with the wind tribunes to be entirely made from steel.

It has been stipulated that half of the materials used are to be produced in Ontario, while Samsung will receive an extra nine percent tax credit if all of the steel is made in Ontario and another four percent credit if it is shaped in the state.
