Salzgitter Group to supply LD pipes for Trans Adriatic Pipeline

Germany-based steelmaker Salzgitter Group has announced that it will deliver more than 71,000 mt of large diameter (LD) pipes for the 110 kilometer-long offshore leg of the Trans Adriatic Pipeline (TAP). The pipeline will transport natural gas from the Caspian region to Europe. Salzgitter Group will also supply pipe components and coating services.
 
The large diameter pipes are to be manufactured by the end of this year in various production stages by EUROPIPE GmbH, Mülheim an der Ruhr, Germany, a joint venture of the Salzgitter Group and AG der Dillinger Hüttenwerke. Delivery is scheduled to commence in the third quarter of the current year. Salzgitter stated that, together with other recently booked orders such as orders for Nord Stream 2, this will secure a good basic capacity utilization until mid-2018.
