Indian state-owned steel producer Steel Authority of India Limited’s (SAIL) Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) recorded its higher-ever pig iron production during the first two months of the current fiscal year (started April 1) at 632,800 metric tons, a company official said on Monday, June 4.

The official said that saleable steel production by RSP during the first two months was recorded at 504,630 metric tons.

Part of the incremental pig iron production was attributed to RSP completing the rebuilding of its blast furnace No. 1 in early May this year, which entailed an investment of $92 million, the official added.
