Steel Authority of India Ltd. (SAIL) has announced that it has recently registered its record daily pig iron production with 55,282 mt on December 13, 2018. The company stated that it is ramping up production from the new units and is focused on operating at full capacity after the commissioning of all its new blast furnaces at three of its integrated steel plants – Rourkela Steel Plant in Durga, IISCO Steel Plant in Kalyani and Bhilai Steel Plant in Mahamaya. SAIL’s previous record daily production was 54,786 mt and was achieved on November 24 this year.

According to the company statement, besides its best record daily production, SAIL’s Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) also set a new benchmark by producing 13,051 mt pig iron in December 13 this year. The previous record of 12,622 mt was achieved on June 8, 2018. RSP’s recently rebuilt Blast Furnace No.1 in Parvati, which also happens to be SAIL’s first blast furnace and the new Blast Furnace No.5 in Durga were the major contributors in this success.
