SAIL breaks sales and production records

Market sources report that, Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has broken sales and production records in April-November period (the first nine months of current fiscal) by producing 9.79 million tons of hot metal, 9.07 million tons of crude steel, 8.17 million tons of salelable steel and by selling 7.56 million tons of mild steel. The company announced that it has increased its mild steel sales by 10% and saleable steel production by 8% in the first nine months of current fiscal, compared with the figures recorded in the same period last year. Again in the same period, SAIL succeeded decreasing its debts by Rupees 30 billion ($657 million), from Rupees 129.7 billion ($2.85 billion) to less than Rupees 100 billion ($2.2 billon). The company also reported the capacity utilization rate of its units has reached over 103%, and its continuous casting unit has even reported its capacity utilization rate as 120%.
