South Korea's major shipyards are expected to import more shipbuilding plate from China in 2007 as the price of Japanese products rises. Hyundai Heavy Industries Co., the world's leading shipbuilder, has projected imports of 500,000 tons of Chinese shipbuilding plate this year, and is also planning to increase its annual imports from China next year by 300,000 tons.
