On May 24, South Korean automakers appealed for an end to the strike organized by workers at domestic auto parts manufacturer Yoosung Enterprise.

During the past week, workers of Yoosung Enterprise have interrupted production following the breakdown of talks with management. In South Korea, 80 percent of car piston rings are provided by Yoosung Enterprise.

Due to the shortage in supply of auto parts, many major auto makers in South Korea such as Hyundai and Kia Motors in South Korea have halted production.
