Russia-based leading global iron ore and hot briquetted iron (HBI) producer Metalloinvest has announced that it has launched the main drive of its pellet plant No. 3 at its subsidiary Mikhailovsky GOK in the Kursk region of Russia. This marks the first stage in the phased commissioning of the plant.

The project for the construction of pellet plant No. 3 has cost a total investment of over RUB 16 billion ($0.244 billion). The project will enable Mikhailovsky GOK to increase its pellet production capacity by 50 percent, or by 5 million mt per year. This will create approximately 600 new jobs in the region.

The construction of the pellet plant is the largest project implemented in partnership with Russian machine manufacturers. The main supplier of equipment is Uralmashplant. Other Russian and foreign manufacturers also took part in production, including IZTM, Rudgormash, ORMETO-YUMZ, Schenk, Flakt Woods, and Fingo Engineering.
