In its revised plan to tackle the economic crisis, the Russian government has declared its intention to strengthen the control of steel product imports, in order to avoid an influx of cheap supplies into the country.

According to the plan, the control of steel products imported into Russia will be intensified during customs registration procedures, in order to avoid falsification during declaration of imported goods aimed at custom clearance under reduced import duties.

In addition, the government intends to provide equipment for radiological and phytosanitary controls to the customs which carry out registration procedures for imports of steel pipes and rolled steel products.
