According to the State Statistics Committee of Russia (Russtat), in the first two months of the current year Russia registered a two percent decline in its rolled steel product output to 9.3 million mt, a 1.2 percent decrease in its crude steel output to 11.2 million mt and a 0.2 percent decline in its pig iron production to 8.3 million mt, all year on year. In the given period, Russia saw a 0.4 percent decrease year on year in its steel pipe production to 1.5 million mt.
In addition, in January-February this year Russia produced 4.4 million mt of metallurgical coke, up 2.9 percent year on year, and 56.3 million mt of coal, up 0.4 percent year on year.
