In January-April of the current year, Russian steelmaker Rostov Electric Steel Works (REMZ) produced 238,900 mt of continuous cast steel billets against 204,900 mt in the same period of last year. In April alone, the company saw a 4.2 percent increase in its continuous cast billet production to 63,900 mt.
At present, REMZ is building a small-section rolling mill, which will manufacture wire rod and rebar. The mill will be capable of producing 530,000 mt of 8-32 mm rebar and 5.5-14 mm wire rod per year.
