Qatar’s metal manufacturing PPI up 8.2 percent in Q2

According to the latest data released on October 17 by Qatar Statistical Authority (QSA), in the second quarter of this year Qatar's producer price index (PPI) stood at 164.0 (2006 = 100) showing a rise of 38.8 percent compared to the corresponding index of Q2 in 2010, mainly supported by the higher prices recorded in the mining and manufacturing sector. Compared to the first quarter of 2011, the increase in the PPI of Q2 was 10.5 percent.

In the second quarter of this year, manufacturing in Qatar witnessed an increase of 8.3 percent compared to the first quarter of 2011 and an increase of 28.1 percent year on year, while the PPI for the country's metal product and machinery sectors showed an increase rate of 1.4 percent compared to the first quarter this year and an 8.2 percent rise on year-on-year basis.
