Peruvian iron ore production declines 21.8 percent in September

Iron ore production at Peru’s only producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, declined 21.8 percent in September, year-on-year, according to data released on Tuesday by the nation’s ministry of mines and energy, Minem.

According to the local government, Shougang Hierro Peru produced 405,473 mt of the commodity in September, down from 518,752 mt registered a year ago. In the cumulative period of January to September, Peruvian iron ore production totaled 5.9 million mt, 3.8 percent up, year-on-year, from 5.7 million mt.
