Peru’s iron ore production up 12.9 percent in January

In January this year, iron ore production in Peru amounted to 589,902 long tons (599,340 mt), increasing 12.9 percent compared to the same month of the previous year but down seven percent compared to December 2012, according to Peru's Energy and Mining Ministry.

In the whole of 2012, the country's total iron ore production was 6.68 million long tons (6.8 million mt), marking a fall of 4.7 percent compared to the previous year.
