Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports amounted to 192,181 mt in October this year, increasing 33 percent compared to September and up 58 percent year on year, according to data released by the Pakistan Federal Bureau of Statistics (PFBS). The value of the iron and steel scrap imports was $80.7 million in October, rising 61.4 percent compared to September this year and up 86 percent compared to the same month of 2011.
Pakistan's scrap imports in the July-October 2012 period amounted to 635,744 mt, increasing 23 percent compared to the same period one year earlier. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel scrap imports was $247.2 million, rising 38.5 percent year on year.
Meanwhile, Pakistan's iron and steel imports in October amounted to 156,427 mt, increasing by 23.6 percent on year-on-year basis and up 14.6 percent compared to the previous month. The country's iron and steel imports in the July-October 2012 period totaled 518,202 mt, decreasing by 4.85 percent year on year. In the period in question, the value of Pakistan's iron and steel imports was $454.3 million, rising 4.85 percent year on year.
