In 2010, the Russian steel and pipe producer OMK plans to increase the output of the foundry and rolling facility at its subsidiary Vyksa Steel Works (Vyksa) by 1.7 times year on year from 700,000 mt to 1.2 million mt.

Currently, OMK has approved the construction of the second stage of the foundry and rolling facility, which would double its capacity; however, the schedule has not yet been defined. During the crisis period, OMK gave priority to the construction of its hot rolling mill 5000, which is planned to be commissioned in the middle of 2011. The installation of the mill is expected to begin in the second half of 2010.

As SteelOrbis previously reported, OMK's new mill 5000 will have an annual production capacity of 1.2 million mt of plate with up to X120 strength grade, up to 4,800 mm wide, up to 12.5 m long and up to 48 mm thick, to be used for large diameter pipe production.
