Oman’s leading steelmaker Al Jazeera Steel Product Company (AJSP) has held the groundbreaking ceremony for the region’s first rolling mill for rails and sections with KEZAD Group, operator of Khalifa Economic Zones Abu Dhabi (KEZAD), where the mill in question will be constructed.

The mill in KEZAD aims to pioneer technological advancements, enhance steel production capabilities and increase the demand for high-quality steel products.

As SteelOrbis reported earlier, AJSP had ordered a new rolling mill for medium sections from Italian plantmaker Pomini Long Rolling Mills back in May. It will have a capacity of 450,000 mt of beams per year. This way the company will be able to meet the increasing demand of its customers.

In addition, as the GCC region plants to connect the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar with a railway network, there will be an increasing need for railway steel parts, which the mill will cater to.
